It seems, as was the case in the USA, Toys R Us are getting a head start on the new Pirates of the Caribbean sets. BDU readers Nicko, LegoFan and Camo have reported local sightings at Doncaster and Campbelltown TRU stores today.
Despite the slightly inflated prices you’ll pay by both shopping at TRU and living in Australia, sometimes there’s nothing like holding a brand new LEGO set in your hand. Plus TRU are offering a coupon for 20% off if you spend over $100 in their latest catalogue, which you can grab as you enter the store. That should soften the blow somewhat!
Here are the TRU prices, which match the RRPs deduced a couple of weeks ago:
4182 The Cannibal Escape – $59.99
4183 The Mill – $79.99
4192 Fountain of Youth – $39.99
4193 The London Escape – $99.99
No sign of the remaining sets yet. Please, leave your sightings in the comments!

TRU can keep them, the London escape is = $100 for 5 minifigs, 2 horses and a small bag of bricks.
Thanks for the heads up on the Barnes and Noble deal EJ. To anyone who hasnt taken the plunge and bought from Barnes and Noble, then do it. As long as your not too worried if the package maybe slightly bashed, its definitely worth it….
Yeah, I was just looking at the picture of the London Escape. Nice set, a hundred bucks? No no no no no.
I delivered a heap to Target’s in Brisbane this week with relase dates on them for early next month.
Targets in Brisbane are stocking the shelves this weekend. 4292 Fountain of youth- $39. 4191 captains table – $24. 4181 Isla de muerta – $39. 4182 cannibal escape – $39. 4183 the mill- $79. None of the larger sets yet.

They’re available online at Toys’R'Us much cheaper (though still expensive than other continents are paying)
Online Price:
(4195) Queen Anne’s Revenge $149.99 (out of stock)
(4194) Whitecap Bay $99.99
(4193) The London Escape $64.99
(4192) Fountain of Youth $24.99
(4182) The Cannibal Escape $39.99
(4183) The Mill $49.99
(4181) Isla De Muerta $24.99
I suppose I’d be prepared to pay this if I was on the fly,
I’ve already ordered 4181 and 4195 from Barnes and Noble as I discovered on this site the other day. Good call.
Oh and free shipping if you spend $100+
Anywhere that’s not Australian is your best bet for procuring POTC sets… I ordered two of them off Amazon.
How did you get amazon to deliver to Australia? I tried for some Lego and it said they would not send it to Australia.
D:
Damn!
I just got an email from B&N telling me my order will be delayed 1-5 days and that I won’t be charged until it ships.
This sucks.
By the time it ships our dollar will likely plunge to an all-time low.
-sigh-
Target @ Airport West stocked Queen Annes Revenge last night….I went at 5:00PM to check for clearances and came back at 8.30PM to succumb to a half price World Racer set (not even worth 50% off!) and they were there! $199 way too steep though, such a small box! Is the scale much smaller than pirate lego ships?
@Ben: world racer is half price at Target now? Do you know if that applies to all world racer sets? Which set did you get?
Sorry for all the questions, but I reckon at 50 % off world racer is worth getting
I got Blizzards Peak for $59 reduced from $99….Desert Destruction is $99 reduced from $149 and Gator Swamp for $35 reduced from $69. Not sure if it applies to all Target stores….but it isn’t advertised.
The sets have too many stickers for my liking. The minifigs are tacky and the overall feel of it isn’t good. Happy to negotiate with you for the set I bought last night, only built once! haha
@Ben: seems to be the same clearance prices kmart had a while back. I reckon gator swamp for $35 is really good, I might pick up a few for xmas tree appeal purposes later this year
I don’t care about stickers as I don’t apply them anyway, and I reckon some of the minifigs have great facial expressions! I agree that overall it’s a rather suboptimal theme, but at clearance prices almost anything goes.
Thanks for the info!
I don’t apply the stickers on these or any other models unless absolutely necessary, models look a lot sharper and clean without.
I put together Blizzards Peak last night in little under an hour, it’s not a challenge….but I guess it’s a good addition to the Lego pile of spares, aside from the putrid green blocks! In hindsight should have settled for Gator Swamp….
@ Brett – sorry for the delay, I was unreliably informed by my partner, who had intended to but them at Amazon, but couldn’t… looks like it’s Barnes or Noble, or Bricklink… =(
My B&N experience. I thought I’d take the plunge and order the full POTC set from B&N. Got the same delayed email as Haggis but I thought I’d hang on as the price was too good. Unfortunately this morning I got a raft of cancelled order emails from B&N and I quote “We apologize, but despite our efforts, we weren’t able to fulfill some or all of the items in your order, as noted below. These items have been canceled from your order”
I was really looking forward to the POTC theme but I’ve reached the tipping point of enthusiast vs cost on this one. It’s just not worth it to buy in Australia and unless I can find somewhere else I’ll have to let it go. Sigh.
Did anybody else have better luck?
I got the same B&N cancellation email, which sucks. I had cancelled my original order from Jan and placed another one in late April with some changes, so maybe thought I had moved down the queue and missed out that way – did anyone else actually get a shipping notification that put in an order a while ago?
@ Timmy, D
Yeah just got the same cancellation message.
Is it really B&N’s just to be the worst customer experience possible? Did I miss the fine print on their website? “we actually don’t care about our customers and we pretend to sell things to you whilst gathering info about you”.
This is shite, I’ve sent them a message so hopefully it can shed light on the situation.
I’ll respond here if anything happens.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding order #######
Despite our efforts, we are unable to obtain a copy of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Queen Anne and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Isla De la.
Therefore, we have cancelled this title from your order, and you will not be charged.
Please note that the inventory is subject to change by the suppliers;
these changes will be updated as we receive them.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we
encourage you to visit our Used and Out of Print section for

I really don’t understand considering the fact they had advertised the product on their site for pre-order at a defined price and now its suddenly ‘unavailable’. Why then advertise at all if you haven’t already made the preorder for the product you’re advertising.
Never shopped with B&N before, and never will again.
I think TRU were/are avoiding putting Queen Anne on shelves while the 20% off deal was on….ended yesterday, so will be interesting to see what’s on the shelves today.
Target have Queen Anne’s Revenge advertised @ $150 this week, sale starts Wednesday. Great value….and will avoid the overseas mail nightmare!
