Target’s latest catalogue runs from 12 May (this Thursday) – 18 May and includes a lovely 20% off LEGO® plus some deals on LEGO® Pirates of the Caribbean sets, including a whopping $50 off 4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge. Interestingly, Toys R Us are also having 20% off LEGO® from 11 May.
Here’s the full list of PotC pricing at Target:

4191 Captain’s Cabin – $19.00 (RRP $24.99)
4193 The London Escape – $79.00 (RRP $99.99)
4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge – $149.00 (RRP $199.99)
Sale starts this Thursday.
I just noticed that on all the PotC boxes, it says “Poster Inside” – what is this poster? Anything interesting?

Yeah the posters are different in every set, heres a link

Don’t expect Queen Anne’s Revenge to be on TRU shelves @ 20% off. Heading into Target first thing Thursday!
Cannibal Escape was mispriced at Target Canberra City at $39 today (all the other sets were at full Aussie RRP) – a sweet deal if you can get that at an additional 20% off in the sale!
I was in Target this morning. Honestly? The prices are starting to get offensive.
The boxes are the new, smaller size — the Captain’s Cabin is like 10 cm by 10 cm — and it’s almost $25. This is slap-you-in-the-face, “We don’t care anymore just give us your money” kind of thing. The new Cars sets (both Lego and Duplo) were also there. The smallest Cars sets were the same size as “The Captain’s Cabin”, and they were $13.
Fail, Lego.
With the sale and a discount card, I might just bite the bullet and buy Isla De Muerta… but I’m very disappointed at the prices.
got my queen anne’s revenge. everthing else is to expensive. hope i can get the black pearl cheap too when it comes out.
Popped by my local Target today – in the Lego aisle was a trolley with stacks of boxes marked “Lego – Do not Open Until 16th May.” One box was open already though, so I stole a quick look – inside were the larger “Cars” sets. I don’t get it – the 16th is Monday, when the 20% off sale is still on. So what’s the big deal if they release these sets a few days earlier? Unless this is the doing of higher powers….. (i.e. The Lego Group)
May have something to do with BigW having them on advertised special
Took a drive into town today (Hobart) to try and get Queen Annes Revenge. There was only about a dozen Lego boxes on the shelf, mostly Duplo. Only a couple of the new space sets and basically nothing else. Anther guy and myself asked one of shelf stockers if they had anymore Lego, to which they replied “No. We didn’t get our shipment today”. They also added that they didn’t know when the stock would in. We left empty handed and very disappointed, as I for one, know how it can be very time consuming getting a park in the city and wrangling this ‘Lego hunting’ around work and other commitments. This seems to happen almost everytime a store has a toy sale. The items that are advertised are never on the shelf. Bet this never happens to women with a clothing/shoe sale!
Was worried about stock levels and didn’t want to leave it to the weekend, so got the other half to go shopping for me today! Got Captain’s Cabin, Isla De Muerta and London Escape at Target Victoria Park (WA). No Queen Anne’s Revenge there. Picked that up at Target Carousel. Heaps of stock (all 4 sets) at Carousel at 5pm tonight.
For those after Queen Anne’s revenge, you can get them for $127.99 at TRU. I’ve posted copies of my receipt on eurobricks.com under the aussie sales section. Arming yourself with the receipts when purchasing the set will definitely increase your chances of getting them because there’s not actually meant to be any further markdowns on them. So be nice to the cashier and manager, and they might just give you a sweet deal. Hope this helps everyone out.
I am not sure whether TRU will honour the $127.99 deal on QAR. I went to my local TRU this evening and overheard the conversation from a store manager to the cash register that no further mark down on Lego POTC apart from those on the system. Good luck to those who can get the deal tomorrow.
I think the Cannibal Escape has been mispriced at Target in general. It should be priced at $59, but at Target it’s listed at $39. With the additional 20% off, you can pick it up for $31.20, which is nearly half price. It’s a very ordinary set though, and even at this price, I wasn’t tempted.
Wow these are still overpriced on sale! Saw them at Target today. “London Escape” seriously, 2 horses n carts and a ‘bit’ of a building. You could MOC for half that price yourself. Give them time they’ll have to reduce the heck out of them to move them eventually.
I’m keeping my money for the Pet Store
My girlfriend and I managed to get all the sets from target. I would reckon it’s worth the money after discount. And it is cheaper than S@H+delivery. If you guys think they are overpriced, you can try bricklink and take advantage of the strong Aussie dollar and pay extra shipping Or you can wait for clearance sales. But in the end it would only differ by a couple of dollars. Otherwise, there are always new sets coming up like alien conquest and Harry potter if potc doesn’t interest you at all.
Its too late to get Cannibal Escape for $31.20. Target has realised their RRP error and put its RRP back to $59. Someone from Eurobricks has confirmed this.
I caved on the weekend and bought the Queen Annes revenge from Target at Belconnen in the ACT. It was a good build and does look great when finished. I still felt like I paid full price at $150 though. I’m going to have to leave the other sets on the shelves however as I just can’t justify the price.
Well I guess that the reason why POTC and other general LEGO sets are so expensive in AU is that cargo ships do need to take an extra trip from South East Asia to Australia from Europe (instead of just U turn off Singapore and head to Hong Kong/Japan and head back to where it came from). Whereas places in the Europe and United States are generally cheaper to ship to (shorter shipping distance from factories in Europe?). Taking into account how oil prices are off the roof these days (remember ships do need oil to travel), that really contributes to the final RRP of LEGO in Australia. And I guess the standard of living in Australia also plays a part. ~AU$10 VS ~US$5 for general fast food takeways?? The bad geographical location and the high standard of living in Australia may be its own undoing.
So don’t complain about the prices of LEGO in AU.
If you guys want affordable LEGO, bricklink may be one alternative.
VERY DISAPPOINTED INDEED!
After the Barnes and Noble fiasco I caved in a bought the Queen Anne’s Revenge set at AU$200 from David Jones, Bondi Junction on 14/05/2011.
I don’t know how some of you were able to get the Queen Anne’s Revenge set at the reduced Target price. I went to the Target store at the same Westfield shopping Centre and they didn’t have that and the London Escape. So I went to David Jones asked whether they’d price match and they called Target whom replied that they did not have the Queen Anne’s Revenge or London Escape on special, and weren’t relasing them till after the LEGO sale wa over.
Reluctantly I bought the ship furious that every store seemed so incompetent and so calculating.
I don’t understand how Sydeny has a lack of TRU stores, only in the furthest suburbs from central, and every other retailer that sells toys is “apparently” not stocking “particular” items.
They wonder why we shop overseas! Well major retailers if you want to put a tax on online shopping you can shove it up your sphincter!
Okay don’t worry urbanites, I’ve just checked the refund policy at David Jones which says change of mind is a valid response and they will gove refund back, so I’m on my way to Bondi Junction tomorrow to refund then buy the Queen Anne’s Revenge at Myer saving $50.00.
Alas if only more targets and big W’s were close by, and yet when I lved in a regional area all I wanted was a Myer/David Jones close enough.
So using this opportunity I thin I might go and buy all the sets.
Take that David Jones!
@Haggis, if you want POTC London Escape, you can visit TRU. They are currently having all POTC sets at 20% off the Australian ‘excessive’ RRP until this Sunday.
Unfortunately, TRU Moore Park is currently under renovation. If you reside in Eastern Suburbs, you may need to travel to TRU Chatswood or Hurstville to get the bargain.
