Online retailer Fishpond are having a LEGO® sale with some real bargains. A proviso though – people have had issues with Fishpond cancelling orders and taking a long time to deliver things in the past. Personally I haven’t had too many issues.

Just purchased one Fire Brigade. I had one order in the past with them, and it was a smooth transaction. So I do hope they keep up their good work in providing items they listed in stock.
Just bought the 8049 Log tractor… says it will be 22nd-24th of June before it’s delivered!?!?!

Yeah, I’ve got some excellent prices from them, recently got log cabin for $35 with free postage, but had to wait over a month for delivery

Hm. I ordered a Fire Brigade thru Fishpond about a month ago when it was $199, and they cancelled the order on me as they couldn’t source the stock. Interesting to see if they come up with the goods this time around.
@Gabriel, hopefully everyone will win with this price at fishpond. I am a frequent customer with fishpond but their services are now up to speed lately. I have got a copy of the Brigade for $155 at Myer Sale earlier this year so I wont buy it this time around.

I won’t use Fishpond at all – previous orders that I paid extra freight for because apparently the items were in stock were not in stock at all.
I think their main source of revenue is holding peoples money for orders they cannot fulfil, and then refunding weeks later. This gives them a huge working capital when in fact they only deliver goods occasionally.
Would not deal with Fishpond again even if it was a few dollars cheaper. Rather wait for the sales at Myers, Ebay etc/

Stay away from this mob,far far away. No matter how good the deal may seem. Remember – “If it sounds too good to be true” then it usually is!
Just have a browse around the Lego section of their site. Look at the hugely inflated prices they sell at. They even propose a markdown on an item but it is still selling for more than the RRP!
For example, the Lego City Police Helicopter 7741 is selling for $26.05 !!! What you say?! That’s 27c per piece of plastic. It’s a small set with 94 pieces and retails for $14.99 everywhere else. Get it at 20% off and it’s $12!
The Creator Mini Plane is $19.03 – but hey – save 13%, pay only $16.64. It sells in the real shops for $9.99 or $8 on special!
A Lego Brick Separator will set you back $13.02 for a RRP of $2.99

Actually, I will. Those of you who have ordered the Fire Station, I really hope they arrive in reasonable time and in good condition. Fingers crossed.

@zim – I think that’s a rather unfair allegation to make – like most online retailers they will not process the payment until the item is dispatched (unless you send a direct deposit), I still haven’t paid for my item – just like all my previous purchases (last one took over a month) they didn’t get any cash until the item was on its way to me
Maybe it’s on the balance sheet, but they certainly don’t have the cash in their account as you suggest

Got my despatch notice too. Said it took 10days to arrive & no tracking number. My previous order with them had tracking number so i don’t know why this time they don’t post it with registered post or sthg.
@Rich: I think they won’t charge you until they ship only if you use credit card. Payment like paypal or direct deposit or similar will be charged once you place your order so @ZimDownUnder has made a point here.
I ordered the Grand Emporium from Fishpond last month and it had to come from a US supplier, but I did save a good amount. Was well packed and had free shipping. I was pleased with my first experience with Fishpond.

Call me a cynic, but I bet if I’d bundled it with something else (ie, Emerald Night, at RRP) which I was going to do, I’d be getting the Emerald Night regardless, at RRP….
Seems to me that’s the purpose of the exercise. I find it hard to believe in this day and age, they can still advertise something, that they don’t have in stock….
Well I just received my shipping notice for 2x Fire Brigades. On balance I’m happy with the service I get from them given I only buy at a deep discount. Ive probably ordered 15+ items with only 2 or 3 getting cancelled due to lack of stock.
Well I placed an order of the fire brigade and was told that it was ready to ship and my card was charged. I received an email just now telling me the same as above, order has been cancelled and refund in two to three days .
I got stung too with the Fire Brigade. It was 50% off and they stuffed up yet again. Moral of the story, they’re 2 for 2 with failing to meet orders of mine with promising stock yet not delivering. Have to wait until July 10 now for this stock and they’re sourcing from another supplier. Cheap prices… yes, perhaps… cheap service… you betcha!
My Fire Brigade arrived today. Was packaged well and the box is in perfect condition. Took about 3 weeks to arrive which wasn’t bad for Fishpond.

@kcy – that’s hardly their fault if you directly deposit cash up front instead of debit or credit, it’s not a business model
@Rich: Retailer such as BN.com did not charge me even i paid with paypal until goods are really shipped. So i guess it’s a choice whether they want to implement that kind of payment system or not.
Got my Technic log loader today – they might be as slow as a wet week but they did get it to me in the end!

Tried to order the 7477 Wind Turbine, after two weeks of “sorry ,it hasn’t arrived at our warehouse” they cancelled the order.
I’m sorry, but if you put it on your site and say you have it in stock then that should mean IN YOUR WAREHOUSE, not just available for dropshipping from some dodgy overseas operator.

I have no idea how paypal does it, I have very little time for them myself, but that’s another story – I think the point stands that this floating capital idea can hardly be considered a business model if they aren’t forcing people to part with cash (which is actually a pretty serious allegation)
Using credit cards online is a fairly sensible option, Fishpond don’t charge fees and won’t charge them til dispatch – I consider that good practice
Anyway, I hope lots of readers got their ridiculously priced Fire Brigades too!
@ all the people above who think fishpond will not deduct money from your credit card unless they dispatch the item, this is utterly untrue, these people are nothing but a gang of swindlers. i ordered a book on 23rd june and they said that it will be delivered by 1 to 6 july, till date nothing is here, i tried to send an emial to them through their f***ed up system but no one responded to it although it said that they will respond in 24 to 48 hours. again i tried to send an email but this time their system is not allowing me to send any. they have deducted money from my credit card and now i dont have any phone number or email to contact them. Stay away from them. if anybody thinks that i am lying then they can send email to me on saeed10051@hotmail.com, i can send the order number and detail to them.
