Series 5 Minifigs Spotted at TRU

BDU forum member Camo reports seeing Series 5 minifigures at the Campbelltown NSW Toys R Us.

Series 4 was a real challenge for those of us used to the ease of barcodes. If you’re still keen for the thrill of the hunt, there’s a great guide here to Series 5 and how to ID them through a combination of feeling and the raised dots.

Please feel free to post your sightings in the comments, and add them to the global Series 5 Google map.

Just FYI, you shouldn’t rely on the bump codes any more. Since mid-way through S4 they now have different “batches” that all have unique bump codes for the different figs. Only semi-reliable way now is feeling out the bag, or simply buying a box as i have done :P

  2. Peter Smith says:

I just think the effort, in terms of feeling up the bags in store (and feeling thoroughly embarrassed), has reached the point where it’s eclipsing the joy of actually owning the figures. Given the Aussie dollar, I think I’m just gonna find ‘em on Bricklink and buy them cheaply that way.

  3. LegoFan says:

@Peter Smith, Agreed. Bricklink is cheaper given the strong $A. I dont think all TRUs have Series 5 yet. I rang Bankstown TRU this evening and they said they have not got any.

With the slow response on S3 and S4 minifigures (plenty around in my local BigW, Kmart, even TRU in Bankstown), I’d rather wait until TRU’s 20% off storewide sale or their Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal (like the one in their half year toy sale). But if you are desperate, then go for it.

  4. Patty says:

The new Series 5 Minifigures is now available on JustBricks.com.au along with the new Kingdoms, Technic and Star Wars Advent Calendar (will be listed shortly).

  5. Jasen says:

Series 5 is now at Myer Brookside and Toyworld in Brisbane :)

  6. R7 says:

Sydney City Myer also has a box at the register… Along with a full box of Series 4.

  7. Anon says:

5 boxes of series 5 at Melbourne CBD Myer next to cashier counter. Already picked over. Too many fitness instructors and graduates, not enough gladiators!

  8. Cameron says:

Check out this ebay seller. I have been buying lego minifigure sets from him since series 2. 20 minfigs (whole set plus 4 randoms) for $75.00:

  10. johnie says:

Where’s about are you? If you are in Sydney, TRU Hurstville has 3 boxes near the customer services counter.

  11. Cam says:

Half a box at target brisbane city store. $4.90

  12. Cam says:

Full box at toyworld myer centre brisbane $4.99

  13. Peter Smith says:

Found two boxes at the check-outs (not in the Lego aisle, but near the check-outs) in Big W here on the Sunshine Coast today.

I made a pile of 10 bags, all with unique bump-codes (so it meant 10 different figures), and I got ten of the figures that I wanted. Without having to play molest-a-bag (although Cleopatra, with the slope-dress, was the one figure I guessed I had. The zoo-keeper is also easy, ’cause of the chipmunk).

  14. Joe says:

I got a full set (and four British soldiers) at Target at the Canberra centre the other day.

  15. Peter Smith says:

Chipmunk? Chimpanzee. Sorry, it’s been a long day :) . Anyway.

  16. James says:

Found at target chermside in Brisbane. Tonnes of zoo keepers and boxers. Took forever to find a snowboarder. They also have kre-o transformers.

  17. johnie says:

@LegoFan, I visited the TRU Bnakstown store yesterday. Heaps of S3 the green packets on the rack, near the Lego section. About 2 boxes worth of S5 the light blue packets on the same rack. I couldnt find any big box that holds the minifigures in store though. hope it helps!

  18. Charlie says:

I found some non-lego, but lego compatable Doctor Who minifigures at the ABC Shop the other day. Now i have a Dalek on the station waiting for a train in my city.

  19. Vicky says:

Just back from Thursday night shopping at Garden City (Brisbane) Toys R Us. Got a full set of Series 5 @ $3.99 each PLUS 20% off (the 20% off all LEGO sale is on now). Sitting here with BIG, satisfied grin. :)
